First.
Welcome to the first. Alpha Delta Pi was the first ever sorority to come into existence in the Panhellenic council. It was founded on May 15, 1851, at Wesleyan College in Macon, Georgia. The original name of the sorority was the “Adelphean Society,” and the word “Adelphean” comes from the Greek word for "sister".
Finest.
Welcome to the finest. We are built for the “the mental, moral, social, and domestic improvement of its members.” Alpha Delta Pi sisters work together to make themselves better women who stand for something bigger than themselves. They support each other and they care for one another living out our motto "We Live For Each Other".
Forever.
Welcome to Forever. Alpha Delta Pi provides its members with memories, friendships, skills, and lessons that will last a lifetime. Wherever you go you will find a sister to share life’s experiences with. Alpha Delta Pi’s are upheld to the highest of standards and molded into successful and well-rounded women that can accomplish get through, and conquer any situation in life.
A letter from our vice president of Operations
Dear Potential New Member (PNM):
I am so glad that you are reading this! I ran home to Alpha Delta Pi in September of 2018, and my collegiate years as a member have been exceptional. When I went through recruitment, I remember having so many different feelings: “Was I going to be good enough? Did I wear something cute enough? Will they like me?” These are a few of the many questions I couldn’t help but think about before I went through sorority recruitment. If you are having some of those same thoughts, please take a few deep breaths and know that you ARE worthy and good enough! I can’t express that enough. I want you to know that there are no expectations for who you should be other than to be you! Trust me when I say, our delta sisters are just as nervous to meet you as you are to meet us.
One of my favorite things about Alpha Delta Pi is our sisterhood. In 1851, the Adelphean Society was formed and, from there, a sisterhood that has lasted almost 200 years. When I ran home in 2018, I gained the sweetest and strongest support system that I have had with me throughout my college experience. I didn’t know that the decision to go through sorority recruitment would lead to me finding the best sisterhood, my future bridesmaids, and my biggest cheerleaders. My favorite memories since joining have been the unplanned sisterhood moments that I will remember forever! Those candid moments when I have been laughing until tears are streaming down my face because my sisters are being silly, the times I needed someone because I had a really bad day, and the love that our sisterhood holds will always be something I cherish.
So, I say to you PNM, if you are considering sorority recruitment, go ahead! Being part of Alpha Delta Pi has given me the confidence to serve as a leader, a greater love for serving others (especially through RMHC), motivated me to do my very best in my classes, and a bond so deep that it can never be replaced. Alpha Delta Pi was not only the best choice but the right choice for me.
